Your project is using Virtual Superintendent to collect safety and cost information. Drivers on the project must use the SafeSite mobile app, which connects to Virtual Superintendent over the internet.
It is important that all drivers install, register, and use SafeSite correctly so the required project data can be captured.
The information collected through SafeSite helps all parties meet their Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations and supports project cost management. Data captured by SafeSite can include:
- Fit for Work declarations
- Machine checklist and service status information
- Driver breaks and break compliance
- Material weights
- Load source and destination details
- Electronic dockets, including weighbridge dockets
Electronic dockets can be viewed in real time by drivers in SafeSite and by subcontractor managers and head contractors in Virtual Superintendent, reducing the need for paper-based processes.
As a subcontractor manager, it is your responsibility to ensure drivers understand the importance of:
- Installing and registering the SafeSite app
- Allowing SafeSite to collect location data while they are working on the project
- Signing on to SafeSite at the start of each shift
- Keeping their phone connected to power and the screen on throughout their shift
If drivers do not follow these requirements, critical safety and cost data may not be captured, limiting your ability and the head contractor's ability to manage project compliance and costs.
Useful information
- SafeSite can be installed on most smartphones, including iPhone and Android devices.
- SafeSite only tracks a driver's location while they are signed on and working on the project. Tracking stops when they sign off.
- SafeSite uses minimal mobile data.

- Install and register the SafeSite app on their smartphone.

- Sign on to SafeSite at the beginning of each shift.
- Complete required machine checklists.
- Record all required breaks.
- Keep their phone connected to a charger or power source and leave the screen on during their shift.
- Enter dumped weights when prompted by project staff during load disposal activities.

Each day, drivers should:
- Sign on to SafeSite
- Complete required Fit for Work and machine checks
- Keep their phone connected to power
- Leave the screen on while working
- Record required breaks throughout the day
- Enter dumped weights when instructed by project staff
- Sign off from SafeSite at the end of their shift
Important: Without SafeSite data, the project cannot accurately track safety, compliance, material movements, driver fatigue management, or electronic dockets. Consistent use of SafeSite is essential for both subcontractors and head contractors.
