Wages Staff Create Electronic Dockets

This article explains how wages staff create daily electronic dockets using the SafeSite mobile app.

Each day, you complete two tasks:

  1. Sign in to SafeSite
  2. Create an electronic docket

Note: Before you begin, install and register the SafeSite app on your mobile device. See the Installing the SafeSite app help article for instructions.

Sign in to SafeSite

To sign in to the SafeSIte mobile app:

  1. Open the SafeSite app on your mobile device.
  2. Tap your name.
  3. Answer the Fit for Work questions.
  4. Tap Next. You are now signed in and prompted to create a docket.

Create an Electronic Docket

To create a docket in the SafeSite mobile app:

  1. On the Item page, select the wages type that best describes your work for the day from the dropdown menu.
  2. Tap Next.
  3. Confirm the date. If needed, tap the date and update it using the date picker.
  4. Tap Next.
  5. Select your Supervisor.
  6. Tap Next. The docket is created in Draft status. Required fields are highlighted in red. These must be completed before you can submit the docket to your supervisor.
  7. Select your Location.
  8. Enter Docket remarks to describe the work performed.
  9. Confirm your Start time and enter your Finish time.
  10. Add any Item Remarks. Use this to provide a brief description of the work completed.
  11. Review and edit Break times as required. Deselect a break by tapping the checkbox.
  12. Tap Save if you are not ready to submit, or Submit to submit it to your supervisor.

Saved dockets appear on the My Dockets screen with a Draft status. See Docket Statuses below for information about docket status types.

Note: Submit your docket at the end of the day so you can include any incidentals, such as allowances or leave. If you try to sign out with a docket in a draft state, SafeSite prompts you to confirm sign‑off as a reminder to submit.

Docket Statuses

Your docket can have the following statuses:

Status Description
Draft Created but not submitted
Submitted Sent to the foreman or supervisor for review
Accepted Accepted by the foreman or supervisor and awaiting engineer approval
Approved Approved by the engineer and ready for export
Rejected Rejected by the foreman or supervisor and returned for correction

Add a Chargeable Item to a Docket

You may need to add additional items, such as Annual Leave, to your docket. To do this:

  1. Open the docket.
  2. In Docket Actions, tap Add Chargeable Item.
  3. Select the chargeable item.
  4. Tap Next. A red exclamation mark indicates missing required fields.
  5. Tap the expand/down arrow next to the item.
  6. Update the Start and Finish times if required.
  7. Enter Item Remarks (for example, half day annual leave).
  8. Review and update Break times if needed.
  9. Tap Save. The docket remains in Draft status.
  10. Tap Submit to send the updated docket to your supervisor.
