Manage Machine Service Status in Virtual Superintendent

The Service Status of a machine indicates whether it is currently In Service and available for use or Out of Service and unavailable, helping project teams track machine availability and monitor dry hire minimum-hour requirements.

Service status is shown on the Plant page (Menu > Plant) in Virtual Superintendent. This page can be accessed by users with User Admin permission.

These users (typically Admin Manager and Subcontractor Admin users) can also update status records from the Plant page, including setting immediate or future-dated status changes, recording comments, and maintaining a history of service status changes.

Note: Service status can be viewed and updated from both the Plant page in Virtual Superintendent and the Plant screen in the SafeSite app.

Update Machine Status in Virtual Superintendent

To update the service status of a machine in Virtual Superintendent:

  1. Sign in to Virtual Superintendent.
  2. Click Menu > Plant. The Plant page opens.

Click or tap to expand image
  3. Locate the required machine and select it. If needed, use the Plant ID, Properties or Supplier column filters to find the plant equipment. You can also filter the Service Status column to show only equipment that is In Service, Out of Service or both. The Edit Plant dialog opens.

Click or tap to expand image
  4. Click the edit (pencil) icon beside Service Status. The Edit Status panel opens.

Click or tap to expand image
  5. Click Add Record. A new status record is added to the panel, below any existing records. New records have a service status that is the opposite of the most recent existing record (for example, if the last status record is In Service, the newly added record defaults to Out of Service).

Click or tap to expand image
  6. Expand the new status record. You can also toggle open any older record and click Remove if you want to delete them.
  7. Toggle In Service on or off to set the machine's new service status (Off for Out of Service or On for In Service).
  8. Click the Comment field and enter a comment describing the reason for the status change.

Click or tap to expand image
  9. Click the Time field and use the calendar and time tabs to select the date and time of the status change, then click OK. You can set the current date and time to immediately change the machine's service status, or you can set a date and time in the future to schedule a future status change (if, for example, you want the machine to automatically update to a new status at the end of the day, first thing tomorrow, or at the end of the week or month).

Click or tap to expand image
  10. Click Save and then Close. Depending on the time and date you selected, the new service status is displayed on the Plant page under the Service Status column and on the Plant screen in SafeSite either immediately or after the scheduled status change time passes.

Note: Plant service status information is also available in dashboards and reports, allowing project staff and suppliers to monitor machine availability and utilization.
