Register a Head Contractor in SafeSite

SafeSite users with suitable account permissions can use the SafeSite app to generate a registration QR code to register or reregister head contractor SafeSite accounts in the field.

Note: Head contractor SafeSite accounts do not have Superuser, Docket Supervisor or other advanced permissions. To add these, or to link the new SafeSite account to the user's existing Virtual Superintendent account, the head contractor must edit their account details in Virtual Superintendent.

Permissions

To generate a registration QR code in the SafeSite app, you must have the following permission:

  • Superuser

Register a New SafeSite User

If a head contractor doesn't have a SafeSite account, generate a Head Contractor QR Code for them on your device. The head contractor then scans the QR code showing on your device to create their account.

Step 1: Generate a head contractor QR code on your device

To generate the QR code:

  1. Open the SafeSite app and sign in.
  2. Tap Menu > On-board. The On-board screen opens.
  3. Tap Head Contractor. The Head Contractor screen opens.
  4. Tap Next. The head contractor QR code displays on your device. Keep the QR code displayed while the head contractor completes the registration process described in step 2 below.
  5. Tap Next to return to the login screen once the head contractor has scanned the code.

Note: The QR code can be scanned from two locations in the SafeSIte app. Either on the initial SafeSite registration page, which registers a new account and assigns it the project, or on the sign-on page after tapping Add Project Sign-on, which adds the project to the user's existing account.

Step 2: Register the head contractor on their device

Ask the head contractor to complete the following steps on their smartphone:

  1. Open your mobile device's app store: Apple App Store or Google Play Store. If using the app store's search system, search for Cloudscape SafeSite.
  2. Download and install the SafeSite mobile app.
  3. Open the SafeSite mobile app on your device.
  4. Tap Allow when prompted to grant access to device features. These permissions are required for the app to function correctly. See the Device Permissions section of the Install and Register the SafeSite App help article for details.
  5. Tap Scan QR Code. Use your device’s camera to scan the QR code displayed on the supervisor's device. If prompted, allow access to your device’s camera. This step registers you as an electronic dockets user and connects you to the correct project.
  6. Review the information displayed on screen and confirm the details are correct.
  7. Tap Next.
  8. Review the End User Licence Agreement.
  9. Tap Accept.
  10. Enter your personal details as prompted. This includes your first and last name, email address, company, work type, and your device’s mobile phone number.
  11. Tap Next. You are now registered as a SafeSite user.

Note: For information about linking SafeSite and Virtual Superintendent accounts, see the Invite a Dockets Supervisor and Manage Virtual Superintendent User Permissions help articles. To link accounts, the SafeSIte account must be given the Dockets Supervisor permission, then the Virtual Superintendent account given the Dockets Supervisor permission and linked to the SafeSite account using the Link to Supervisor Mobile User dropdown.

Reregister an Existing Head Contractor User

Reregister an existing user if the head contractor already has a SafeSite account but needs to set up the app again, for example, after getting a new phone or deleting and reinstalling the app.

Note: Reregistering the existing account retains the head contractor's historical SafeSite data.

To reregister a head contractor:

  1. Open the SafeSite app and sign in.
  2. Tap Menu > On-board. The On-board screen opens.
  3. Tap Head Contractor. The Head Contractor screen opens.
  4. Tap Re-enable existing head contractor user. The user selection screen opens.
  5. Scroll to the user you want to re-enable and select them. Alternatively, type their name into the search field at the top of the screen, tap Filter, then select the user.
  6. Tap Next. The user registration QR code displays on your device.
  7. Ask the head contractor to open the SafeSite app on their device and scan the QR code.
