Register a Device as a Docket Station
SafeSite can be configured to run as a Docket Station, allowing registered SafeSite users to create dockets for a project on a shared device without using their personal phones. SafeSite can be configured for two separate Docket Station modes - Machine Mode, for operators sharing a device installed in a machine, or Kiosk Mode, for docket contractors using a shared device in the site office.
Machine Mode: A device is registered as a Docket Station and linked to a specific machine, then the device is installed in the machine. Machine mode has been specifically designed to allow operators to sign-on and create dockets using a simplified workflow.
Kiosk Mode: A device is registered as a Docket Station and kept in the site office. Subcontractors typically scan their site card to log-on and create a docket, without having to install SafeSite on their personal device.
Steps to set up a Docket Station:
- A head contractor admin with the User Admin or Admin Manager permission will need to register a device as a SafeSite Docket Station - Machine Mode or Kiosk Mode.
- For Machine Mode - the relevant machine(s) need to be on-boarded in the Virtual Super by a head contractor with the User Admin or Admin Manager permission. Machines can be bulk on-boarded or individually on-boarded.
- SafeSite accounts need to be created for each subcontractor to allow them to sign-on to the Docket Station. This is completed by a head contractor admin or a subcontractor admin Virtual Superintendent user with the User Admin permission.
- If subcontractors are to sign-on by scanning site cards, independent QR codes need to be linked to SafeSite accounts.
Register a Device as a SafeSite Docket Station
A head contractor administrator, with the User Admin or Admin Manager permission, needs to register a phone / tablet as a Docket Station. They will then configure the Docket Station to run in Machine Mode or Kiosk Mode.
Install SafeSite on the device and register as a Docket Station
- From the Google Play Store or Apple App Store - search for Cloudscape SafeSite.
- Download the SafeSite mobile app.
- On your computer, log-in to the Virtual Super and navigate to the Users Page - then configure the Docket Station for Machine Mode or Kiosk Mode (see below for details). This will generate a Docket Station Registration QR code.
- On the SafeSite Registration Page, scan the QR code.
- Save the QR code to your computer - this is scanned to disable Docket Station mode on the device.
Configure Settings for the Docket Station - Machine Mode or Kiosk Mode
Head contractor Virtual Super users with the User Admin or Admin Manager permission can access the Users page, where the SafeSite Docket Station is configured for Machine Mode or Kiosk Mode and the QR code is generated.
- From the Virtual Superintendent Users Page, navigate to the QR Codes tab
- Click the Docket Station tab
Configure Docket Station - Machine Mode (Simple Operator Timesheets)
- Machine mode - Toggle Machine Mode ON
Choose Plant - Select the machine to link this device to (dockets will be linked to the selected machine).
NOTE: The machine must be on-boarded in the system.
- User select method(s) - Define the steps a subcontractor will take to sign-in to the Docket Station.
- List - User will select themselves from a list of SafeSite users.
- User - User will sign on with their linked QR code, generally their site card.
- Both - User can sign-on using either option
- Button text - Enter the text that will display on the Docket Station sign-on page, e.g., Create Timesheet.
- Generate QR Code: Click Create QR Code to generate the registration QR code. This QR code must be scanned to register the device as a Docket Station with the specified configurations.
- Save the QR code to your computer as it needs to be scanned to disable the Docket Station from the device.
NOTES:
- If you want a sign-off checklist in this workflow, the Cloudscape team will need to set this up for you. Please reach out to us on support@vitrualsuper.com to discuss this further.
- When Machine Mode is enabled, the linked machine's plant icon will display on the Docket Station sign-in page.
This support article explains what is required to set your project up to use the Simple Operator Timesheets workflow.
Configure Docket Station - Kiosk Mode
- Machine Mode - Ensure Machine Mode is toggled OFF
- Use Timer - When enabled (toggled ON), subcontractors will have 5 minutes to submit their docket on the Docket Station (Kiosk Mode only) before being automatically signed off. A countdown banner will appear at the top of each SafeSite page.
- User select method(s) - Set the steps a subcontractor will take to sign-in to the Docket Station.
- List - User will select themselves from a list of SafeSite users.
- User - User will sign on with their linked QR code, generally their site card.
- Both - User can sign-on using either option.
- Button text - Enter the text which will display on the Docket Station sign-in page, e.g., Create Docket.
- Save the QR code to your computer as it needs to be scanned to disable the Docket Station from the device.
In both Machine Mode and Kiosk Mode, head contractor admins can define the steps a subcontractor will take to create a docket by assigning sign-on profiles to the relevant item codes. For example, the following sign-on profile, when assigned to the relevant operator item code, defines the steps an operator must complete to create a Simple Operator timesheet.
NOTE: Machine Mode is specifically set up for Simple Operator Timesheets, so the specific Operator Timesheets Sign-on Profile must be linked.
